       Blackberry email read patch

The current version of the BURY e-mail read patch supports:

  • One email account (the default email account).
  • New incoming e-mails will be synchronised automatically with CC 9060.
  • 30 e-mails per user (Oldest e-mail will be removed if new e-mail is received and 30 e-mails are already available).
  • 2000 characters per e-mail will be synchronised.
(This means only a few lines of any email will be read aloud. Longer emails may not be read completely.)
  • E-mails will be stored on the CC 9060 file system enabling the user to read old emails after ignition on and before next syncronisation (retrieving new emails).

Please read the following information carefully before proceeding:

  • The patch synchronises emails with the hands-free car kit if you use the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) or Blackberry Enterprise Service (BES).
  • The BIS or BES must be activated and the settings within the Service Book should be correct.
NOTE: At this stage the Blackberry email read functionality is supported on a BES Server running Microsoft Exchange. If you are running a different email service please contact our office for assistance.
  • If you are using a BIS service, you must change your HTML email setting to ‘NO’. To do this, open your email on the blackberry. Then click the menu button and choose options. In  here choose email setting and then change the field ‘Enable HTML Email’ to ‘NO’.
  • Ensure your BURY CC 9060 Bluetooth car kit is running on software v174 or later.

Important information
The email read feature of the CC 9060 is implemented to alert the user, that new emails have been received and to give a brief overview of the content of the email. If you require more details from the email, this should be done from the safety of your home or office and not whilst in the vehicle. The driver is ultimately responsible for the safe operation and control of their vehicle at all times. You should never use a hand held phone or smart device, including sending or reading text / picture messages and emails, while driving. Research indicates that there is a risk to safety when the driver of a motor vehicle is distracted and using a mobile phone while driving can be a distraction. The manufacturer strongly recommends that you use a hands-free solution when driving and, that you find a safe place to pull over and stop before making or taking a call.
